Algeria: The paramedics are on strike for two days

Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform, Mr. Djamel Ould Abbes had assured last week, have supported the two major demands paramedics, namely, Class 11 and LMD.

For the Minister of Health, there is no doubt that there is a "valuable achievement" for 90 000 paramedics working in different hospitals across the country.

"Obviously, the new special status of paramedics may not but influence positively in terms of career (Paramedic) and their salary," he said stressing that the benefits system will be applied with retrospective effect from January 2008.

SAP had decided at its meeting of its national council on Thursday last, a two-day strike. Its Secretary General will hold a press conference Wednesday at the CHU Mustapha Pasha
